WHAT IS THE MOORHEAD LEGACY EDUCATION FOUNDATION?
The Moorhead Legacy Education Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization, 501(c)(3) entity governed by its own board of directors and dedicated to the continued academic excellence of all students attending and graduating from Moorhead Area Public Schools.
WHY IS THE MOORHEAD LEGACY EDUCATION FOUNDATION NECESSARY?
We are fortunate to be part of the Moorhead community, which has a strong, valued and well-respected school system. The Legacy Foundation’s partnership with the district is an even higher priority with state funding not keeping pace with inflation. It is necessary to support and enhance the ever-changing future of the school district’s landscape. The foundation focuses on funding opportunities for growth and learning for all students in Moorhead Area Public Schools by supporting innovative programs and projects that are outside of district funding. In addition to raising funds, the work of the foundation aims to generate involvement of parents, alumni, community members and local businesses in the development of a excellent school district by providing them the means to fund innovative programs and highlighting the achievements of such programs.
DO OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS HAVE FOUNDATIONS?
Yes, school districts across the country have similar education foundations. More than 50 Minnesota school districts have foundations.
