WHO WE ARE
Moorhead Legacy Education Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to the continued excellence of the educational experience for all students and graduates of Moorhead Area Public Schools ISD 152.
MLEF is a merged entity between Moorhead Schools Legacy Foundation (founded in 2015) and Moorhead Area Education Foundation (founded in 1990). Since 1991, MAEF's Spud Scholars has awarded over $2 Million to 2,000 Moorhead High graduates. Both MLEF and MAEF have awarded annual Spud Impact staff grants totaling $3,000 - $13,000 each year. And MSLF has made great strides in providing milk and snack break for elementary students in the district by raising funds for their Food For Thought program. MSLF has also helped procure funds and historical memorabilia for Spud History, while engaging with alumni and reunion organizers. Together as MLEF, we will strive to impact past, present and future students of the district.
Our mission is to support and enhance the ever-changing needs of students, programs, staff and facilities to help shape the future of our school district and Moorhead graduates to make an impact on their lifelong learning. Supporters like you will make it happen.

- MAPS employees can support the foundation by participating in the district's payroll deduction program. Just $12.67 per month will be recognized as a 152Club membership. Click here for form.

For donors: Make your gift to honor a Moorhead teacher or staff person using MLEF's secure online giving page for Spud Impact: https://ddock.co/57e5bd
- Named gifts toward Academics, Activities, Arts, and Athletics - In the years following COVID19, MAPS has been tracking increased need for basic necessities, which have affected student truancy rates. Monetary gifts of $500 and up are recognized as "named" impact gifts. Email for more information or look for our Facebook events for in-kind item donations.
- Moorhead Legacy Education Foundation Impact Fund: Our endowment supports educational initiatives that require ongoing funding. A stable, permanent source of income, the endowed fund allows the foundation to support building and classroom enhancements, staff grants, and long-term, district-wide needs and visionary programming. Contact us for more information about our endowment with FM Area Education Foundation.
- Food For Thought: Providing milk/snack break and meals when families are struggling to make ends meet. Currently, lunch is paid for through state funding, however that does not include milk and snack for our youngest Spuds. Over 2 out of 5 Moorhead students are in need of food assistance. Visit our Events page for this year's campaign info, or visit www.givingheartsday.org.
- Spud History and the History Wall: Located in the lobby of Horizon Middle School's Performing Arts Center is home to a 50-foot long historical timeline of Moorhead Area Public Schools, partially funded by MLEF and Spud History. Plan a visit for your reunion, and join the Spud History facebook and twitter pages for updates.
